In 2016, 40% of school districts in the United States used the National Sex Education Standards. Most districts will be adopting the new 2020 standards in the near future. Check with your district by submitting an Open Records Request to determine which standards will be used in your school.
States have different laws regarding sex education curriculum, parental notifications and parental opt out options. Check your state's laws here: Sex Education and State Law Policy Chart (SIEUS - Sex Ed for Social Change).
